Hiring a Theatre
Upfront hire versus box office split
A box office split - A theatre allows you to not pay an upfront cost and instead take a percentage of your box office earnings.
Advantages
A big advantage for the production company is no up front theatre rental costs. Also, there's no commission charge for selling tickets and no charge to go into their event programme.
Disadvantages
The theatre could make less money doing a box office split than getting the money upfront if the show has a poor reception.
